It was another successful week for the No. 22 A&M-Commerce Lions, as they defeated the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds and the Midwestern State Mustangs to extend their home winning streak to 18 games.

Eastern New Mexico started strong early, taking the first set in a highly competitive matchup which the Greyhounds won 25-19 after a lot of back and forth action. The second set was even closer, as neither the Lions nor the Greyhounds could escape with the win until the set went into extra points. Although the Lions were valiant, they ended up losing by a score of 27-25, and found themselves in a 2-0 hole in the match.

With their backs against the wall, the Lions managed to get off to a better start in the third set. Feeding off the energy of the crowd the Lions never took the set 25-17. The fourth set went even better for the Lions, as they pushed the match to a fifth and final set by taking a decisive double-digit victory by a score of 25-13.

The Lions completed the comeback dominating in the fifth set, winning the final set 15-8 to defeat the Greyhounds 3-2 to complete their ninth straight victory.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Lions traveled to Wichita Falls to take on the Mustangs of Midwestern State. The first set saw the Lions get off on the right foot, as they were scoring at good pace to take a strong lead. The Mustangs tried to combat this and get back into the match, but the Lions did not let that happen and ensured they would not fall into a dangerous situation similar to the one they had against Eastern New Mexico, beating the Mustangs 25-15.

With all the momentum, the Lions attacked right away in the second set. After a strong start, the Lions lead faded as the Greyhounds climbed back from an 8-point deficit, but the Lions countered and managed to pull away to win the set 25-23. Up two games to none, the Lions had had the opportunity to sweep the match and did not waste it.  The Lions took the set 25-22 to win the match securing their tenth straight win.
