The Leadership Engagement and Development office (L.E.A.D.) is hosting “Operation Blue & Gold: A Day of Service” Oct. 8 for students, faculty and staff to go into the Commerce community.

“It’s just our way to perform different acts of kindness to show thanks to the city,” Domonique Smith, graduate assistant, said.

There are several locations within Commerce that Smith hopes to tend to, such as downtown Commerce, the city park, and the city gym.

“We hope to make the gym more available to the youth of Commerce,” Smith said.

From picking up trash to cleaning up buildings, volunteers will serve the needs of Commerce from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration deadline is Sept. 23.
