“Texas A&M University-Commerce President Dan Jones was transported on Saturday night to Hunt Regional Center in Commerce and later transferred to a medical center in Dallas where he is alert, in good spirits, and receiving excellent care,” Provost and Vice President Adolfo Benavides wrote in an email submitted to university faculty and staff on Monday, April 18.

Benavides closed the letter with, “We thank the people of Commerce and the University Community for their thoughts and best wishes for our President and his return to campus.”

On Tuesday, April 19, Director of the Counseling Center Linda Clinton sent the following invitation:

“Come express your thoughts and best wishes for our President.  The Counseling Center staff will have cards available for you to sign.  We will be in the Atrium area of the Rayburn Student Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, (April 19-21), 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.”

And, she concluded with, “Please encourage students to come as well!”
