The Haunted Hospital Halloween Dance was a free event presented by the Fandom Society, the official science fiction and fantasy group of Texas A&M University-Commerce.

“The dance was a huge success and a lot of fun for everyone to come out and learn about our organization,” organization member Juan Cruz said.

The annual event featured Dj Angel, campus DJ also known as “AYO.”

“The event was successful and the attendees seemed to have a great time,” Fandom Society president Tanner McCarter said.

The Fandom Society was founded in 2009 as an umbrella of several special-interest groups. Each group meets on its own then all together for business meetings. These groups include: trading card games, tabletop role-playing games, Anime, Cosplay, video games, creative writing/drawing and science-fiction/fantasy book reading.

“We are essentially the nerd culture group on campus,” McCarter said.

The purpose of the Fandom Society is to provide members with social, cultural, and educational opportunities relating to science fiction, fantasy, other fandoms not mentioned, and gaming in all media and genres.

“The group is very friend-oriented and is a lot of fun,” McCarter said. “We are always hanging out together. We sit in the far back of the cafeteria by the emergency exit and also meet at Berry Hall all of the time to hangout.”
