Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Jasper, Ark. in the Ozarks, has more than 300 trails where hikers of all skill levels and A&M-Commerce students are ready for the experience.
The ranch also features “Iron Horse,” the longest zip line in Arkansas at half a mile, with a 227-foot vertical drop, and tops out at 50 mph. Zip liners start on the 600-foot “Pony Express” as a warm up, then after a wagon ride and hike they sail 2,300 feet over the canyon towards the main lodge.
The Via Ferrata (Italian for ‘iron road’) is a mountain route of fixed ladders, cables, and bridges that are accessible to climbers. The cables are for safety measures, and the ladders help with movements over and through the rocks and cave. This route doesn’t call for any kind of rock climbing experience.
