Not all was so good outside of Good Donuts Monday, when an early morning altercation left one man hospitalized with a shotgun injury and another in custody

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the 800 block of Culver St., near the intersection for Mangum St. Police reports state the suspect, identified by the Greenville Herald Banner as Commerce resident Sherman Wayne Price, got into an argument with another individual, who received injuries to his face and upper torso caused when Price fired a .20 gauge shotgun at him. Commerce Police report that the injured man, an unidentified 27 year-old Commerce resident, received non-life threatening injuries and has was released from Hunt County Regional Hospital later that day.

Shortly after the incident, Commerce ISD declared lockdown on all campuses due to the suspect still being at large and the incident’s close proximity to three Commerce schools. The lockdown would only last an hour, however, before Price was apprehended.

According to Commerce Police’s Public Information Officer Alex Suarez, Price was apprehended at the Greenville courthouse, where he had appeared for an unrelated case.

Price is being charged with the second-degree felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and has been transported to Hunt County Jail prior to arraignment.
